A Brief Introduction

The Friends of Crowe Bridge Park is a community group which was formed in February 2007 in response to discussions regarding the possible sale of the Crowe Bridge Conservation Area. The Crowe Bridge Conservation Area is a magnificent recreational waterfront conservation area located within Northumberland County outside of Campbellford, Ontario.

The Park is closed and the Friends of Crowe Bridge Park, a local group of concerned citizens and volunteers, are making plans to open the Park. We are working with the Crowe Valley Conservation Authority (CVCA) to hire a consultant to do an evaluation of the Park and recommend alternative scenarios for the operation of the property. Our goal is to come up with a plan for the CVCA to maintain the Crowe Bridge Conservation Area and open it.

We are soon to be a non-profit organization and are actively undertaking the role of maximizing the potential of this beautiful, natural place so cherished by our community. With our many volunteers the Friends organization will assist the community by informing the public of the status of the Park, we will engage in open discussions about the Park, we will enhance education opportunities and secure ongoing funding.

Our various activities and projects will be carried out in close cooperation with the CVCA and will depend very much on public support including volunteer labor, membership fees, and special financial donations.

Thank you for your support!

Projects

"Supported by a grant from

The Campbellford/Seymour Community Foundation"

Our first project was to submit a grant application to the Campbellford/Seymour Community Foundation for funding. We have received a $15,000.00 grant from the Campbellford Seymour Community Foundation to implement our project. The project will be to work with the CVCA in hiring a consultant to develop a five year plan to rehabilitate the Crowe Bridge Conservation Area.

The consultant will conduct an evaluation of the current status of Crowe Bridge Park and document issues that would need to be addressed before the park could be opened for public use. The consultants report would recommend several alternatives for the future of Crowe Bridge park that would keep it in place as a successful public recreation facility and Trent Hills tourist destination.
